TRNSSTR are Smokin Jo and Pete Gleadall.

Jo’s partner in crime is producer Pete Gleadall. Jo and Pete have been working together under various names for the past 4 years, They hit it off straight away in the studio producing many tracks with releases out on Junior and Whoop. The pair have been busy making new productions released on Viva, Steve Lawler’s label, their tracks have been a hit with some of the big players on the techno scene, Luciano, Anja Schneider,Ali Schwarz – Tiefschwarz to name a few. The pair plan to go live soon with Pete on laptop and keyboards and Jo on laptop, effects and vocals. Their sound is tech house.

Pete has been producing under various monikers since the early 90’s. In his “Forthright” guise he also lent his remix talent to massive artists such as The Pet Shop Boys and George Michael. Today he continues to produce and release music from his “Hoedown City” studio, where his skills have seen him work with the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Clive Henry ( Circoloco) Tom Stephan and of course Jo.

Their latest release is Shuffle Scuffle and Wild Sound out on Berwick Street Records 26th January with a Beatport exclusive on 29th December.

Shuffle Scuffle is a belching techno monster with a relentless bassline. Epic slabs of sound are stacked atop glitchy lo-fi drums which results in a listening experience that simply swallows you whole. Its sheer simplicity and subtle nuances creep up on you… loaded with ominous synths resonating throughout which coupled with the funked up bass, transports you to a dark and dirty dancefloor.

Wild Sound is a massive peak time hit with a stomach churning bassline, teasing percussion and thunderous stabs. Techy to the core; this is a musically dense trip that is dynamic enough to keep you hanging until the very last beat.

“I’ve been a massive fan of Smokin Jo as a DJ for many years and her production style really compliments her sets. I’m still trying to work out which track I prefer most out of ‘Wild Sound’ and ‘Shuffle Scuffle’ as they both go down equally well on my dancefloors from Egypt to Siberia!
